Congratulations! We have had a great start to Term 3, surpassing 180 students—exciting numbers indeed! Many students have seen improved NAPLAN results, fabulous school reports, and, for our seniors and university students, impressive assessment results, including some personal best grades.Congratulations to all – you should be very proud of yourselves!Congratulations also to the team that Dr Bricknell works with at Parry SSP on their State Public Education Week Award.
New Staff
We have welcomed several new staff and farewelled some others as they
have moved on to full-time jobs after completing their studies. We are
currently preparing to transition some students to new tutors as our
wonderful Year 12 team undertake their HSC examinations in Term 4 and
then head off to university and beyond.
Metalanguage Challenge
In Week 6 of this term, all students will be undertaking some assessment
activities. Year 4 to Year 11 English students will be participating in a
Metalanguage Challenge (English subject vocabulary) and a writing task.
This will assist us in working out where to focus our Term 4 programs and
the best structures for groups moving into Term 4.
Term 4
Term 4 is the start of our academic year. All students, except for the
Selective Schools Preparation Groups, will move to their 2025 learning
program at the start of Term 4, Monday 14 October. We do this to
minimise the changes students will face in Term 1, and it allows us to
prepare students for the expectations of the next stage of their schooling.
This will mean some changes to tutoring times. We will endeavour to
minimise change as much as possible, as well as consult with you as we
form the new timetables. The organisation of these changes will begin in
Week 7 so that everyone is ready for a new year on day one of Term 4. If
you have friends or family thinking of joining us in 2025, please let them
know.
Student Progress
Dr Bricknell is currently working with all tutors on the progress of their
students. We will be trying to touch base with as many parents/carers as
possible over the next 6 weeks. If you have any specific questions or
concerns, please contact the office and leave a message and we shall
arrange to catch up.
Email Newsletter
To further improve our communication with Crossroads Families we have
been trialling a newsletter via an email system. We have trialled this with
the Selective Schools Preparation group and it has been well received.
You will be asked to give your approval to participate, if you wish to receive
the updates, on the 2025 enrolment forms which will come home in Week
7. Please send these forms back with students or email them to Karen so
that we can ensure that we have up to date records for all students.
